Ladies, always advocate for yourself.

Ladies. My beautiful ladies. If you are reading this, then you know how much I am not only a believer in listening to your own body, but in also being your own advocate. In life there are some issues that are easily spotted and easily diagnosed, and others which are the complete opposite, and as a woman I know how the system can make you feel crazy and that it's "all in your head" as your body is telling you something. Push on. Push back, and listen to your body.
As you know, I was scheduled to have a hysterectomy on Dec 5 and the plan was to leave both my ovaries. This was due to heavy dysfunctional bleeding I've been experiencing since my cancer treatment. While Dr's have all agreed it wasn't "normal," they mostly agreed it was just something that happened to women without any reason all the time. I still pushed. And I finally got a Dr that listened to me and that would do the operation. I also had my post surgical follow up today.

Let me first say, I'm good. I'm recovering well and seemingly right on time, even if "right on time" isn't my time. lol But I'll take it. My pathology results showed pre-cancerous cells in my uterus, cells that my Dr said within 5 years would have been trouble for me. Pathology results read: simple and complex endometrial hyperplasia with focal atypia, this means I had about a 30% chance of developing endometrial cancer within the next couple of years.
If learning that wasn't shock enough, I also found out that they took my left ovary. It apparently had multiple cysts on it and had to go for biopsy, too. So the journey has been long - 2 years and 4 months to be exact - but it's been worth it. I'm no longer bleeding endlessly, no longer in pain, and now some body parts that were apparently trying to kill me are in the garbage somewhere. So please listen to your bodies and push for what you need. Always. It IS worth it.
